Graying Hair :
Gray hair happens when hair follicles lose melanin. Each hair is made up of a shaft, the colored part, and a root, the bottom of which anchors the hair under the scalp. The root is surrounded by a tube-like tissue called a hair follicle that contains pigment cells that can make melanin. Melanin gives the shaft colors like brown, black, and red. These pigment cells gradually die so that strands of the hair become transparent colors like gray, white, and silver. Gray hair can be seen at any age and is mostly determined by genes. People tend to have gray hair around the same age that their parents or grandparents did. Gray hair can also occur due to health-related conditions like vitamin B12 deficiency, neurofibromatosis, tuberous sclerosis, thyroid disease, vitiligo, alopecia areata, smoking, stress, anxiety, change in appetite, and high blood pressure.
