Gonorrhoea :
Gonorrhea is caused due to bacterial infections across the genital organs and throat. It spreads primarily through sexual contact with an infected person or through repeated use of needles for blood transfusion. Some of the early symptoms of acquiring gonorrhea include abnormal vaginal/penis discharge, and painful sexual intercourse. A general physician or gynecologist may conduct a thorough genital exam. STD screening is then conducted via various methods to diagnose and confirm the condition. Antibiotics may help in managing the condition. Couple counseling and patient education on safe sex practices and contraction of STDs are important as preventive measures. It is advisable to provide treatment for other sexual partners involved to prevent any recurrence.
