Folliculitis :
Folliculitis is a skin problem observed on the face, arms, upper back, and lower legs, and occurs as a result of an infected hair follicle. Folliculitis is classified into various types such as Staphylococcus aureus folliculitis, Malassezia folliculitis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa folliculitis, Pseudofolliculitis barbae, Sycosis barbae, boils, carbuncles, gram negative folliculitis, and eosinophilic folliculitis. The presenting complaints of folliculitis include red bumps that look like pimples on the skin or pustules or white filled bumps along with discomfort and itching. The treatment methods to manage folliculitis include using anti itch creams, using antibacterial cleansers to clean the skin which can limit the amount of bacteria on the skin, and also by applying warm towels to the irritated skin as it soothes the discomfort. The preventive measures to be followed for folliculitis include wearing breathable clothing that keeps the sweat from getting trapped between the clothes and skin, keeping the skin clean, and limiting shaving.
