Deep Vein Thrombosis :
Deep Vein Thrombosis is a condition in which a blood clot develops in a vein deep inside the body. The veins are the blood vessels that carry oxygen-poor blood to the heart. A clot can develop in a vein if the blood moves through it slowly. The clot may partially or fully block the flow of blood through the vein. DVT usually occurs in the legs or pelvis. Though a blood clot is harmless in and of itself, it can be life threatening if it breaks loose and travels to the lungs.
A DVT causes symptoms like swelling around the affected vein, changes in skin colour, and the development of an ulcer around the affected vein. An individual with a DVT may also experience pain, tenderness and hot skin around the affected vein.
