Cushing Syndrome :
Cushing Syndrome, also called hypercortisolism, is described as higher levels of the cortisol hormone in the human body. Cortisol is also called the stress hormone that performs various functions like maintaining blood pressure, regulating blood sugar, reducing inflammation, forming memories, balancing salt content in the body, transforming food into energy, and managing respiration. The significant signs of cushing syndrome include a red, round face, poor wound healing, easy bruising, high blood pressure, purple stretch marks over abdomen, excessive growth of hair, fat pad between shoulders, diabetes, tiredness and general weakness, dizziness, blurry vision, weak muscles, libido changes, stunted growth in children, thinner arms and legs erectile dysfunction. The factors responsible for causing Cushing syndrome include excessive use of glucocorticoid medications, adrenal cortical tumors, pituitary tumors, lung, thyroid, thymus, and pancreas tumors. The management of Cushing syndrome involves various methods like medications to lower the levels of cortisol, chemotherapy, radiation, and surgical methods to remove the tumors.
