Common Cold :
The common cold is a viral contagious disease that affects the throat, windpipe, nose, and sinuses. The presenting complaints of common cold include sneezing, runny nose, cough, and nasal congestion, hoarseness, headache, body aches, sore throat, fatigue, and fever, lasting for one to seven days. The significant signs of common cold in babies are different from those in adults and include sneezing, fever up to 102 degrees Fahrenheit, runny nose, increased drooling due to sore throat, difficulty in swallowing, irritability, cough, and slightly swollen glands. The rhino group of viruses is responsible for causing the common cold, which has more than one hundred different rhino viruses. Coronavirus and other viruses are also known to cause the common cold. Common colds usually go away on their own, and if they don't go away with time, to reduce the symptoms of a cold, medications like antihistamines, nasal decongestants, pain relievers, cough suppressants and expectorants are given.
