Cholecystitis :
The inflammation of the gall bladder can be referred to as cholecystitis. There are many types of cholecystitis, which can be chronic, acute, acalculous, or calculous. The leading cause of cholecystitis can be the blockage of the bile ducts. The symptoms that can be observed in cholecystitis include nausea, pain in the upper abdomen, fever, abdominal distention, vomiting, stiffness of abdominal muscles, weakness, and fatigue. The primary cause of cholecystitis can be the formation of gallstones in the gall bladder, and there are some risk factors like diabetes, high levels of cholesterol, being obese, being pregnant, losing weight drastically, and being older than 40 years. The diagnosis of cholecystitis can be done through blood tests, abdominal ultrasound, liver function tests, endoscopic ultrasound, HIDA scan, and CT scan. Cholecystitis needs to be treated quickly with antibiotics, pain relievers, and intravenous fluids. The treatment for cholecystitis is the removal of the gall bladder through a surgical procedure.
