Celiac Disease :
Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease developed due to gluten. There are commonly three identified proteins are wheat, barley, and rye. Patients with a celiac disease diagnosis react to gluten by the immunologic actions of the immune system. The damages occur in the small intestine lining. General symptoms of celiac disease include abdominal pain and distension, diarrhea, constipation, weakness, loss of weight, and anemia. The hallmark presentation of celiac disease in children is stunted growth and development. The disease, however does not diagnose by blood tests that check for the presence of antibodies found with the disease as well as a biopsy of the small intestine to evaluate how much destruction the gluten has caused. The only effective treatment for celiac disease is a lifelong gluten-free diet which involves avoiding all foods containing wheat, barley, and rye.
