Carpal Tunnel syndrome :
Carpal tunnel is a space in the wrist , when extra pressure is put on the median nerve this will cause a carpal tunnel syndrome.Carpal tunnel syndrome causes tinglingness and weakness in wrist and hand.Some of the common symptoms include pain , tinglingness , numbness , difficulty in holding the subjects which may affect in our daily life.Some of the risk factors which may aggravate the carpal tunnel syndrome are people who use their upper limbs for certain sports like swimming , tennis and underlying diseases like diabetes ,obesity, thyroid disease, amyloidosis and diabetes.Diagnosis is done by a complete physical examination and certain tests like ultrasound , MRI , x ray , and EMG. Treatment includes conservative management like having a splint , corticosteroids, occupational therapy and usage of non steroid anti inflammatory drugs for a certain period of time.Surgical management might also be advised when there is no progress with the medical management which is done on an out patient basis. Maintaining a good posture and frequent strecth outs during the pre and post physical activity might prevent the carpal tunnel syndrome
