Blood In Stools :
Blood in stools is a medical condition in which the stool has blood that can occur from any region of the gastrointestinal tract(from stomach to anus) . The typical appearance of black coloured stool is an indication of upper GI (gastrointestinal) bleed in which the blood (hemoglobin) from peptic ulcer or any pathology in the stomach reacts with the acids and form the black colour and fresh blood/bright red or maroon apperance of blood in stool is often due to low GI bleed also known as hematochezia which is also associated with pain in the abdomen, lighthedadedness, vomiting etc, and occurs due to various conditions like hemorrhoids, IBD, diverticulitis, colon cancer etc. Hence immediate diagnosis and management of the underlying condition is essential to avoid any further complications.
