Bad Breath :
Bad breath or halitosis is described as a foul smell coming from the breath, mainly due to poor oral hygiene. The other causative factors of bad breath include head and neck cancers like oral cancers, dry mouth, tonsil stones, gum disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease, infections in the nose, throat, or lungs, like diabetes, pneumonia, kidney disease, Sjogren's disease, and liver disease. To prevent bad breath condition, the measures to be followed include visiting a dentist regularly, brushing twice a day using a soft- bristled toothbrush and flossing once a day, drinking a lot of water to prevent a dry mouth, using antibacterial mouthwash, avoiding alcohol, caffeine and tobacco products as they keep the mouth dry and boosting the production of saliva by using sugar- free chewing gum. The treatment methods to manage bad breath rely on the underlying factor causing it and include options like using mouth rinses and dental cleaning.
