Asthma :
Asthma is a respiratory disease that can affect the lungs. Asthma will be a chronic disease, and it is referred to as bronchial asthma. Asthma will cause airway inflammation, leading to the narrowed airways, thus causing the excessive formation of mucus in the lungs. The symptoms that are observed in asthma include chest tightness, wheezing, shortness of breath, and coughing. In some instances, there will be triggers of asthma, which include any allergic agents, exercise, or occupational asthma due to gases, dust, or chemical fumes. The diagnostic tests that are done to diagnose asthma will be physical examination, peak flow, and spirometry. There will be other tests to be done to detect asthma, including X-ray, nitric oxide test, and allergy testing. The treatment advised for asthma will be with medications such as oral tablets, oral steroids, inhaler pills, and intravenous (IV) corticosteroids. The goal of asthma treatment is to control the symptoms. The prevention of asthma is possible by preventing the triggers that cause it and strictly avoiding them.
