Arteriosclerosis :
The medical terminology used for the description of the arthritic thickening of arteries, loss of elasticity, and resultant narrowing of blood vessels which leads to obstructions of blood flow to all organs is known as arteriosclerosis. This condition is primarily caused by old age, though it ordinarily accelerates its process with such other conditions as high blood pressure and high cholesterol levels, smoking, and diabetes. Atherosclerosis is indeed one of the arteriosclerotic diseases because the process of laying down fatty deposits known as plaque in the inner lining of arteries gradually leads to symptoms such as chest pain or angina pectoris, shortness of breath, and leg ache during exercise. Depending upon which arteries are concerned like the thoracic and abdominal aorta complications in terms of heart attack, stroke, or peripheral artery disease may arise if left untreated. These include lifestyle changes in diet and exercise, reduction of medications concerning cholesterol or blood pressure levels, to even surgical operations to re-establish the restoration of blood flow in extreme cases.
