Allergic Rhinitis :
Allergic rhinitis, also called hay fever, is an allergic reaction to allergens that enter through the nose or mouth. The triggering factors of allergic rhinitis include trees, weeds and plants, pet dander, dust mites, saliva, mold spores and cockroach droppings. The presenting complaints of allergic rhinitis are sneezing, runny nose, stuffy nose, itchy nose, mucus in the nose, throat and eyes, red and watery eyes, wheezing, postnasal drip or sore throat from mucus dripping down the throat, sinus pressure and headaches, tiredness, coughing, trouble breathing and dark circles under the eye. To diagnose allergic rhinitis, a blood allergy test, skin prick or an intradermal test is to be conducted. The treatment methods to manage allergic rhinitis include taking allergy medications, antihistamines like cetrizine, loratadine, fexofenadine and lexocetrizine, corticosteroid nasal sprays, leukotriene inhibitors and decongestants.
