Breast Pain :
Breast pain is also called mastalgia. Breast pain causes tenderness, sharpness, and throbbing pain, as well as tightness in the breast tissue. It is most commonly seen in women and occasionally seen in men. There are three types of breast pain such as cyclic breast pain, noncyclic breast pain, and extramammary breast pain. The causes of breast pain are cysts in the breast, injury to breast tissue, hormonal fluctuations, fibrocystic changes in the breast, improper fitting of bra causing pressure, certain medications, and stress. The diagnosis of breast pain can be made through clinical examination of the breast, mammogram, biopsy of the breast, and ultrasound scan. The treatment options for breast pain can be topical medication to relieve the pain, eliminating the triggering factors by wearing a well supported bra, managing the menopausal hormone therapy, stop consuming caffeine products, joining in relaxation therapies to come out of stress, stopping birth control medications with doctor's advise.
