Paediatric Pulmonologist :
A paediatric pulmonologist is a specialised doctor who deals with the diagnosis and management of lung and breathing problems in children. A paediatric pulmonologist is qualified with a graduation in MBBS, followed by a post-graduation in MD in paediatrics, and then further possesses a fellowship in DM in paediatric pulmonology. The conditions which will be treated by a paediatric pulmonologist include cystic fibrosis, asthma, recurrent pneumonia, chronic cough, obstructive sleep apnea, tuberculosis, bronchitis, vocal cord dysfunction, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and chronic lung diseases of prematurity. Symptoms that should be checked with a pediatric pulmonologist include difficulty in breathing, persistent cough for more than four weeks, noisy breathing, wheezing, poor development, exercise intolerance, family history of respiratory infections like cystic fibrosis or asthma, and frequent respiratory infections.
