Optic Neuritis :
Optic neuritis is an eye issue that is directly connected with nerve disease. It is caused by the inflammation of optic nerves, which results in eye pain, vision loss, or changes in the vision. Patients experience these symptoms because the optic nerve is directly connected to the brain and shows its effect on the eyes and causes other neuropathy eye symptoms. Risk factors are multiple sclerosis and infections, patients diagnosed with diabetes and autoimmune disease are at higher risk for developing this condition. It is treated by an eye care specialist called ophthalmologist, who orders optical coherence tomography scans, CT scans and MRI scans for diagnosis and to provide effective treatment. It is treated with medications or surgical intervention and to prevent the associated symptoms patients must have regular eye checkups and wear protective eyeglasses while doing outdoor activities. Treatment includes antibiotics, plasma exchange, intravenous steroids and other treatments that treat underlying causing factors.
