Skin Rashes :
Skin rashes appear when the skin becomes bumped, swollen, and itchy, which causes pain and itchiness. Skin rashes are classified into various types such as contact dermatitis, hives, eczema, psoriasis and viral types like molluscum contagiosum and chicken pox. The significant signs of skin rashes vary, depending on the type and are commonly seen as dry, blistering, flaky or scaling, blotchy, burning or stinging, inflamed or swollen, itchy, hive like, painful and red. The factors causing skin rashes are allergens in the environment, skin conditions like eczema, viruses, bacterial infections like strep throat and irritants. To diagnose skin rashes, investigations like biopsy, allergy test and blood investigations are conducted. The treatment modalities to manage a skin rash include allergy medications, immunosuppressants, anti inflammatory creams, oatmeal baths, topical immunomodulators and steroids. The potential complications of skin rashes, if left untreated, include infection and anaphylaxis.
