Throat Infection :
Throat infection is also known as sore throat which is generally caused by a viral infection or an bacterial infection. Usually it lasts for a few days and subsides on its own. Throat infection some times can also be presented with fever, cough, body aches, change in the voice, and fatigue. Apart from the bacterial and viral infection some other causes which might cause throat infection include tonsillitis, allergies, acid reflux, obesity or deviated nasal septu, and throat cancer. Diagnosis is made by a physical examination of the throat, swab test, and basic blood investigations. Treatment includes administration of antibiotics, betadine mouth gargle and antihistamines. Staying hydrated, regular washing of hands, following a proper hygiene and staying away from the infected person are some of the ways to prevent the throat infection. It is better to consult a physician if the throat infection lasts for more than 10 days.
