Syncope :
Syncope is a sudden loss of consciousness or fainting often due to decreased blood supply to the brain from low blood pressure. Before the attack of syncope the person may also experience ringing sensation in the ear,confusion,pale skin, shallow breathing, fast or slow hear rate, blurring of vision, sweating ,dry mouth, lightheadedness and muscle weakness. Syncope can be of different types ie,. vasovagal syncope(triggered by blood,stress,pain or fear), reflex syncope, cardiac syncope, orthostatic syncope(fainting due to sudden change in posture), neurocardiogenic syncope etc. Management is by identifying and treating the cause and lifestyle modifications (hydration, avoiding triggers,proper salt intake), medications for cardiac problems , blood pressure control and other supportive care.
