SRS :

SRS(Sterotactic radiosurgery) is a type of radiation therapy in which high dose of radiation is targeted on a tumor usually in brain and spinal cord leading to shrinkage and treating of the tumors. In SRS multiple small beams of radiation is targeted on a single tumor where they intersect leading to DNA damage of the tumor and cut off the blood supply thus destroying it. It is used in various conditions like tumors of brain and spinal cord, acoustic neuroma, pituitary tumors, trigeminal neuralgia, AV malformations, meningioma, tremors, cancers of lung , liver, etc. It is usually done in a single sitting and serves as a non surgical procedure to treat various tumors.
