Spondylosis :

Spondylosis is a the degeneration of the spinal vertebrae ie,. intervetebral discs, facet joints and ligaments often due to wear and tear occurring in the old age. It is most commonly seen in cervical vertebrates causing cervical spondylosis. Risk factors for spondylosis includes aging, genetics, obesity, trauma, accidents, smoking and certain medical conditions . Signs and symptoms include back pain (lower back or centre), neck pain, reduced mobility and stiffness in the joints, numbness, tingling , weakness, headaches etc. Diagnosis is made by physical examination, medical history, symptoms, imaging studies (X-Ray, CT, MRI scans), EMG or NCS if necessary and management is mainly conservative with medications or injections to relieve pain, physiotherapy, lifestyle modifications and surgical intervention if necessary.
