Shoulder Dislocation :
Shoulder dislocation is one of common types of joint dislocation in the body in which the head of the humerus bone is separated from the glenoid cavity or shoulder socket causing severe pain and instability. It can occur due to various factors like accidental fall , fall on an outstretched shoulder, contact sports, previous dislocation etc. It can an anterior dislocation(bone comes forward, most common), posterior dislocation or inferior dislocation. The chance of recurrence is about 20% once the dislocation has occurred and the diagnosis is made by typical history, physical examination and X-ray and or MRI if necessary. Management of the shoulder dislocation may include pain management, reduction (manual realignment), immobilization by sling or brace, surgery if necessary and physiotherapy to regain the strength and movements.
