Seizures :
A seizure represents an electrical activity storm in the brain, hence affecting its proper functioning. They cause altered behaviors, movements, feelings, and even consciousness in some cases. The symptoms may vary much and depend on the type of seizure. It could include convulsion, unconsciousness, staring spells, or even other feelings. Sometimes, the aura stage precedes the onset of seizure.
The diagnosis is usually based on a history of case supported by a neurological examination together with tests such as EEGs or MRIs to identify the cause of the problem. This form of treatment controls the reoccurrence of the seizure through drugs, such as antiepileptic drugs, lifestyle, or surgery sometimes. Managing a patient involves guiding and counselling the patient by health providers in recognition of triggers for one to put in effort while experiencing the seizure and to ensure one is safe. Attending follow-ups, ensuring that one is monitoring the efficacy of treatment and changing drugs if need be is always supposed to be done.A close follow up with the neurologist is mandatory. Some seizures may be temporary and can be cured if a proper treatment is given.
