Pelvic Inflammatory Disease :
Pelvic inflammatory disease is an infection to the female reproductive organs. Female reproductive organs include ovaries, uterus, fallopian tubes, cervix and vagina. PID is mainly caused due to multiple sexual partners, having sex with infected partner, excessive douching and history of PID.
Symptoms include abdominal pain, pain in low back, fever with chills, excessive vaginal discharge, pain while urinating, pain while having sex, bleeding while having sex. Treatment include appropriate anti-biotic therapy, sexual abstinence, treating the sexual partner. Complications like infertility and ectopic pregnancy are not uncommon.
