Myasthenia Gravis :
Myasthenia gravis is an autoimmune condition that leads to weakness of skeletal muscles. There are various types of myasthenia gravis, which include neonatal myasthenia, congenital myasthenia, and autoimmune myasthenia. Subtypes include generalised and ocular. Myasthenia gravis will be caused due to an attack caused by the own immune system. There are stages that are seen in myasthenia gravis, which are class I, class II, class III, class IV, and class V. The symptoms that are seen in the case of myasthenia gravis will be fatigue, muscle weakness, double vision, drooping of eyelids, speaking difficulty, walking difficulty, swallowing difficulty, limited facial expressions, and chewing difficulty. The myasthenia gravis will be detected through antibody tests, CT scan, electromyography (EMG), and MRI scan. The management advised for myasthenia gravis will be medications, plasma exchange, intravenous infusion of immunoglobulins, surgical treatment called thymectomy for the removal of the thymus gland, and intravenous infusion of monoclonal antibodies.
