Leptospirosis :
Leptospirosis is a contagious bacterial infection caused by the bacterium Leptospira and is transmitted between human beings and animals. The transmission of Leptospirosis occurs by coming in contact with reproductive fluids or urine of animals that are infected and contaminated soil or water. The significant signs of leptospirosis present in two phases, namely, leptospiremic phase and then immune phase. During the leptospiremic phase, the infected individual presents with mild or no symptoms. However, in the immune phase, the patient presents with severe symptoms. The symptoms that may occur due to leptospirosis include high fever, chills, red eyes, headache, abdominal pain, muscle aches, nausea, diarrhea, rash, vomiting, coughing up blood, yellow skin or eyes, chest pain, trouble breathing, severe yellowing of your skin or eyes, decreased in the amount of urine, blood in the urine, black and tarry stool and presence of petechiae. The management of leptospirosis involves various methods such as prescribing medication, mechanical ventilation, and plasmapheresis.
