Larynx Cancer :
Larynx cancer is a cancer that deteriorates the voice box or larynx. The voice box contains the vocal cords and helps us to speak, breathe and swallow. Supraglottis, glottis and subglottis are three main regions of the larynx, where larynx cancer may form. Supraglottis is the upper part of the larynx, glottis is the middle part, and subglottis is the lower part of the larynx. The symptoms of larynx cancer include pain and difficulty in swallowing, persistent sore throat or cough, ear pain, voice changes like hoarseness, difficulty in making voice sounds or dysphonia, and a lump in the neck or throat. Some forms of human papillomavirus, which cause sexually transmitted infections, are the primary cause of larynx cancer. The treatment plan to manage larynx cancer involves methods like radiation therapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and surgical procedures such as laryngectomy, minimally invasive techniques and transoral laser surgery (TOLS) to remove the cancer.
