IUI :

IUI /Intrauterine insemination is fertility treatment where a healthy motile sperm is inserted directly into the uterus using a catheter. It is done in women who are not not able to conceive naturally and the sperm donated can be from husband or a sperm donor . The couple is also given a fertility test to determine the motility, number and viability of the male's sperm and the success of the females ovulation.semen analysis done for male partner, ovulation testing, HSG (hysterosalpingography) or ultrasound in female partner is done.

It is useful in case of infertility (male/female), low sperm count or motility, cervical factor infertility, single women or same sex couples seeking fertility treatment. IUI is done by ovulation induction (medicines to stimulate ovulation) in female , sperm preparation (washing and processing ) and insertion of sperm into the uterus and testing for pregnancy after 2 weeks. It is conducted by a trained obstetrician and gynaecologist who is specialized in infertility treatments.
