IUI :
IUI or intrauterine insemination, refers to a type of fertility treatment for women. IUI is a type of artificial insemination and is performed by placing sperm directly into a woman's uterus. IUI is recommended for women to address conditions like ejaculation or erection dysfunction, low sperm count or other sperm impairments, semen allergy, if donor sperm has to be used, cervical mucus problems, or other problems with the cervix, and unexplained infertility. The time taken for IUI is same as a regular menstrual cycle and is around four weeks or 28 days. By tracking the ovulation timing, sperm injection is carefully done. After this, semen sample is prepared for insemination, followed by inserting a speculum into the vagina. Approximately two weeks after IUI, taking a pregnancy test is recommended. In combination with IUI, fertility drugs such as clomiphene citrate, hCG, FSH, letrozole, and prenatal vitamins are to be taken for stimulating the ovaries to release multiple eggs.
