Hypoglycemia :

Hypoglycemia is a condition where there is a fall in blood sugar levels less than the normal range (I.e., less than 70 mg/ dL). glucose is the primary and only source of energy to the brain, so it is needed to be treated as soon as possible to prevent any complications. Some of common causes of hypoglycemia are diabetes, improper dosage of medication for diabetes which can lower blood glucose levels, prolonged fasting, skipped meals, excessive and strenuous physical activity, excess alcohol consumption, etc.

Signs and symptoms are typically seen if the blood sugar levels falls less than 55 mg/ dL. Which include dizziness, shaking, increase rate of heart beat, excessive sweating, coldness of extremities, extreme hunger, confusion, inability to talk, blurring of vision, loss of contentiousness and seizures in severe cases. Hypoglycemia can be diagnosed by a simple blood test to check blood glucose levels and HBA1c to know the past history of any non diagnosed diabetes. Treatment include providing them a fast acting carbohydrate food or drink and rechecking the sugar levels after 20 minutes.
