Dystonia :
Dystonia is a complex neurological disorder which is marked with muscle contractions that results in twisting and repetitive movements or abnormal fixed postures resembling a tremor in the affected individuals. These muscle contractions may range from mild to severe, and can be painful interfering with the daily activities. The exact cause of this condition is not known, although it is believed to be caused by physical trauma, lead poisoning, or reaction to certain medications.Dystonia may also occur as an autoimmune or an acquired condition. This condition is classified into a few types to aid the diagnosis and treatment namely focal, generalized, psychogenic, vegetative vascular, and acute dystonic reaction. Unfortunately there is no permanent cure for this condition, however therapy and medications can help alleviate the symptoms to a certain extent.
