Cervical Disc Herniation :
Cervical disc herniation is a condition in which there is tearing of the discs present in the spinal cord. The disk herniation will be caused due to ageing, repetitive twisting or bending movements, traumatic injuries, and improper lifting of heavy weights. The symptoms that are seen in cervical disc herniation will be lower back pain, muscle weakness, numbness of legs or feet, tingling sensation, neck pain, pain at the shoulder blades, and numbness in the arms. The diagnosis of cervical disc herniation will be done through physical examination, X-rays, MRI scan, nerve conduction study, myelogram, electromyogram (EMG), and CT scan. Cervical disc herniation will be treated with physiotherapy, medications, and spinal injections. Surgical treatment will involve laminotomy, diskectomy, laminectomy, spinal fusion, and artificial disk surgery. The common procedure that is done to treat cervical disc herniation is known as microdiskectomy, which is a minimally invasive spine surgery.
