Astigmatism :
Astigmatism is an eye condition in which there is an irregular shape of the cornea compared to its normal shape. Astigmatism is a type of refractive error that can lead to blurred vision. Astigmatism will be seen from the birth of the child, and in a few cases, it can be developed in the adult stage. The astigmatism will be caused due to hereditary reasons that will be passed from the parent to the child. There are other conditions that can lead to astigmatism, including eye injuries, eye surgery complications, and keratoconus. The symptoms that will be experienced in astigmatism will be headaches, squinting to have good and clear vision, seeing halos with lights, fatigue, and eye strain. The diagnosis of astigmatism will be done by an ophthalmologist through tests, which include the refraction test, keratometry, visual acuity test, and slit lamp examination. Astigmatism will be managed by using eyeglasses or contact lenses, which will improve vision, but these will not help in changing the shape of the cornea. Surgical treatment is also done for the correction of the shape of the eye.
