Aortic Valve Stenosis :
Aortic valve stenosis is described as the narrowing or blockage of the aortic valve of the heart. The presenting complaints of aortic valve stenosis are heart palpitations, fatigue, chest pain, swelling, dizziness or fainting, and shortness of breath. Aortic valve stenosis occurs due to various factors like untreated infections such as scarlet fever, which can complicate to rheumatic fever, wear and tear due to age, and other inherited or chronic conditions like familial hypercholesterolemia, Paget's disease of bone, and kidney failure. To evaluate this condition, various investigations like ECG, chest X- ray, exercise stress testing, angiography or cardiac CT scan, heart MRI and cardiac catheterization are conducted. To treat aortic valve stenosis, there are various methods involving valve replacement procedures, valve repair by aortic valve surgery or valvuloplasty and taking medications like diuretics, blood thinners and others to treat heart failure or arrhythmias.
