Appa Rao rendered a speech on 'Tuberculous Ottitis Media' at the House Ear Institute, Stanford University, Los Angeles. He served as a Professor and Head of ENT Department at the prestigious King George Hospital, Visakhapatnam. He also worked as the Superintendent at the Government ENT Hospital located in Pedawaltair. Dr. M. V. Appa Rao served as a President of the Association of Otolaryngologists/ENT Surgeons of India for the AP sector. He is a member of the Indian Medical Association, the Association of Otolaryngologists of India and the Indian Society of Otology.
