A dietitian is a specialist who will provide guidance for healthy eating for good health. A dietitian is qualified with a bachelor's degree in nutrition and dietetics. The role of a dietitian is to analyse the nutritional status of individuals and then provide nutrition counseling, manage medical nutrition therapy, develop personalized meal plans, collaborate with other doctors, and promote public health. There are various types of dietitians, like community dietitians, clinical dietitians, management dietitians, consultant dietitians, and research dietitians. A dietitian will help in recovery from surgery or illness, for losing weight or gaining a healthy weight, and help change into healthy eating habits. Dietitians are trained in various specialties like pediatric nutrition, obesity and management of weight, geriatric nutrition, sports nutrition, oncology nutrition, renal nutrition, diabetes care diet, nutritional programs for rehabilitation of eating disorders, and pediatric critical care nutrition.
