Epididymitis :
Epididymitis is the inflammation of the epididymis, the organ that stores and carries the sperm . It is caused by sexually transmitted infections caused by bacteria like chlamydia, gonorrhea and other urinary tract infections. In older men it is often caused by non sexually transmitted bacteria. Signs and symptoms include scrotal pain , swelling, fever associated with pain during urination and ejaculation. In some severe cases of epididymitis may lead to abscess formation and testicular torsion (twisting of the testicle that blocks its blood supply). treatment involves antibiotics, medications to treat pain, inflammation, rest ,scrotal support. It can lead to complications like chronic pain, infertility due to damage to the reproductive organs and spread of the disease to the adjacent organs . Therefore early diagnosis and treatment are necessary.
