Black Eye :
A black eye is a term used to describe the bruising around the eye due to trauma of the face or head. The bruise may look purple, black, and blue around the upper and lower eyelids. The symptoms of the black eye can be discoloration of the skin around the eye, pain around the eye, and swelling of the tissues around the eye. The most common cause is trauma, like a ball hitting the eye, a fall hitting the eye to the ground, a punch by someone in the face, or any accidents. Sometimes, the black eye appears due to dental surgeries, nose surgery, face lifts, and surgeries on the jaws. A medical examination is required to know the cause of the black eye and for the treatment. The doctor may advise a CT scan or X-ray if there is a major trauma to the head or any fractures in the skull.
