Ophthalmologists are known as eye doctors and are trained to improve vision and other issues related to ocular region. They not only perform thorough eye examinations to prescribe glasses and contact lens, but perform several delicate eye surgeries. Ophthalmologists perform cataract surgery under local anesthesia where the clouding of lens is removed to improve vision. Blindness can be as a result of various corneal diseases and corneal transplantation is done to restore sight.
