Medical Oncologist :
A medical oncologist is a primary cancer doctor who has expertise in diagnosing and treating cancer. To qualify as a medical oncologist, one must finish five and half years of graduation in MBBS degree, followed by pursuing post graduation like MS or MD in General Medicine or Pediatrics in relevant specialty and then doing a super specialization like DM/ DNB in Medical Oncology. A medical oncologist is a concerned person to identifies the type of cancer, stage and grade of cancer, and then indicates various treatment options available and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to offer comprehensive care to the patient throughout their cancer journey. A wide range of treatments are delivered by a medical oncologist, depending on the type and stage of cancer including immunotherapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, hormone therapy and other types. Medical oncologists also provide supportive care to the patient and monitor the patient's progress for treatment complications.
