White Discharge :
When a female reaches puberty between the ages of 10 and 14, a clear or white fluid can flow from the vagina. This white discharge is known as leukorrhea and it flows due to hormonal changes. It is a normal and natural discharge that can begin flowing up to a year before the menses begin.
The white discharge that flows from the vagina usually comprises bacteria and dead cells. The discharge is a means for the female reproductive system to clean itself. Moreover, the discharge assists in moistening the vaginal tissues and keeping them healthy. White discharge usually develops and flows in small amounts. However, it is not normal for large amounts of white or clear discharge to flow. It is essential to consult a gynaecologist if a large amount of white discharge occurs along with symptoms like burning, itching and foul odour.
