Urinary Incontinence :
The condition of urinary incontinence can be described as the loss of control to bladder which can lead to leakage of urine. There are several types of urinary continence such as urge incontinence, stress incontinence, functional incontinence, mixed incontinence, overflow incontinence. The symptoms that can be seen when there is urinary incontinence can be urinating frequently, bed wetting, waking up in the nights to urinate more frequently, leakage of urine during coughing, laughing, exercising, bending, sneezing, and also during sexual intercourse. The urinary incontinence can be caused due to various causes such as diabetes, overactive bladder, menopause, stroke, parkinson's disease, enlarged prostate, multiple sclerosis, surgery to prostate gland. The diagnosis of urinary incontinence can be based on the pelvic examination, digital rectal examination, urinalysis, cytoscopy, stress test, ultrasound examination of abdomen, urodynamic tests. The treatment for urinary incontinence can be done with medications, surgical treatments will be done based on the cause of the condition. The lifestyle changes such as kegel exercises, retraining of bladder, having healthy body weight, wearing urinary pads, managing fluid intake will be helpful.
