Stye :
Stye is described as development of a red painful bump on the eye, in the edge of the eyelid. Depending on the location, stye is classified into various types such as internal styes which form on the inner eyelids and external styes that develop on the outer part of eyelid. The significant signs of stye include swelling of eyelid, formation of painful bump on the eyelid, discharge from the eye, light sensitivity, crusting along the eye, soreness and itching, eye tearing, a feeling that there is something in the eye or a scratchy feeling. The most common cause of stye is bacterial infection. The treatment plan to deal with stye involves using warm compresses, antibiotic ointments and steroid injections, cleaning the eyelids by gently wiping away the eye discharge and finally by incision and drainage of the stye. The necessary precautions include: not squeezing the stye, rubbing or touching the eyelid should be avoided and until the area is healed, contact lenses and makeup shouldn't be worn.
