Strabismus :
Strabismus is an eye condition that can affect both eyes, causing misalignment. Strabismus will occur due to the abnormal functioning of muscles. There are various forms of strabismus, which include intermittent exotropia, infantile esotropia, and accommodative esotropia. The symptoms that are seen in strabismus will be headaches, tilting of the head to one side, double vision, closing of one eye to look at something, difficulty reading, and eye strain. Strabismus will be diagnosed by a complete examination of the eye, medical history, focus and alignment tests, examination of the eye after dilating the pupil, and vision acuity tests. Strabismus can be treated with the use of eyeglasses or contact lenses, using special lenses called prism lenses, orthoptics, called eye exercises, medications, eye patching, and surgical treatment of the eye muscles. There will be risk factors that will lead to strabismus, such as cerebral palsy, refractive errors that are not corrected, Down syndrome, hydrocephalus, brain tumors, stroke, head injuries, and poor vision.
