Slow heartbeat :
Slow heartbeat, also known as bradycardia, is a condition where the heart beats less than the expected range of 60 beats per minute. Slow heartbeat induces significant signs such as shortness of breath, memory problems, chest pain, confusion, fatigue, heart palpitations, difficulty in concentrating, agitation, dizziness or syncope and irritability and other personality changes. The factors causing slow heartbeat include anorexia nervosa, electrolyte deficiencies, endocarditis, myocarditis, infections such as strep throat, pericarditis, lyme disease, rheumatic fever, heart block, chagas disease, sick sinus syndrome, radiation therapy, heart surgery, rheumatoid arthritis, heart attack and coronary artery disease. Slow heartbeat condition is evaluated using diagnostic tests such as an electrocardiogram (ECG), lab tests to check for thyroid hormone levels, electrolyte levels, and troponin, and a toxicology screen. The treatment methods to address this condition of slow heartbeat include primary options like prescribing medications, temporary pacing, and a permanent pacemaker.
