Skull fracture :
A skull fracture is known as a broken bone in the skull. It is a head injury due to a blow to the head, a fall, or trauma. Not all skull fractures will involve brain damage. There are various types of skull fractures, which include basilar fracture, depressed fracture, diastatic fracture, linear fracture, comminuted fracture, closed fracture, and open fracture. The symptoms that are seen in the case of a skull fracture will be nausea, bruising, headache, light and sound sensitivity, vomiting, leakage of fluid through the nose or ear, loss of balance, seizures, memory loss, and swelling. The diagnosis of skull fractures is done by physical examination, X-rays, MRI scan, and CT scan. Skull fractures will be treated through medications for relieving pain, surgery will be indicated in some types of fractures, and rehabilitation for regaining normal function. The complications that will be seen in skull fracture will be bleeding in the brain, seizures, damage to the brain, leakage of cerebrospinal fluid leading to infection, and cranial nerve damage.
