Sick sinus syndrome :
Sick Sinus Syndrome also called as sinus node dysfunction is a heart rhythm problem typically caused due malfunctioning or abnormal functioning of the sinus node. This is a rare type of disorder that manifests in different forms namely sinus bradycardia, sinus arrest, sinoatrial block, and tachycardia- bradycardia. Sick sinus syndrome can occur at any age but commonly seen over the age 70, and is affected in both men and women equally. Sick Sinus syndrome has various causes, as it can result due to any kind of damage to the Sinoatrial node including heart failure, coronary artery disease, history of heart attack, Severe hyperthyroidism, trauma, rheumatic fever, Certain medications, and atrial fibrillation etc. Although this condition is asymptomatic, you can experience symptoms like heart palpitations, dizziness, fainting, and shortness of breath. Treatment for this condition is only required if the individual experiences any symptoms.
