Renal Angiogram - Kidney :
A renal angiogram is a diagnostic test conducted to visualize the blood vessels of the kidneys. This investigation helps to check how well the blood is flowing to the kidneys and also to identify any abnormalities. Renal angiogram is indicated to detect narrowing of a blood vessel or stenosis, arteriovenous malformation, ballooning of blood vessels or aneurysms, spasm of a blood vessel or vasospasm, blood clots, tumors, complications of a kidney transplant, and blockages and bleeding in the blood vessel. The complications that may arise after a renal angiogram- kidney include bleeding, injury to the nerves, blood clot or embolus formation, temporary kidney failure, infection, damage to an arterial wall or an artery causing blood clots, and swelling caused by a collection of blood. If there is any contrast dye present in the body from a recent imaging test and also if there is gas or stools present in the intestines, the accuracy of this renal angiogram decreases.
