Radial Angiogram :
Radial angiogram, also known as transradial angiogram or transradial coronary angiogram, refers to a minimally invasive medical procedure that helps in seeing the inside of blood vessels, mainly coronary arteries. A radial angiogram is carried out by inserting a thin, flexible tube into the radial artery of the wrist. This procedure helps in diagnosing and formulating a treatment plan for coronary artery disease and other heart diseases. Radial angiogram is recommended to treat narrowing in the coronary arteries or blockages in the heart by angioplasty and stenting and also helps in evaluating chest pain and various other heart problems. The advantages of a radial angiogram include cost effectiveness, lower risk of bleeding, safe approach, shorter hospital stay and is done at the comfort of the patient. Radial angiogram may induce side effects such as allergic reaction to the dye that is used, damage to the artery or occlusion of the artery and bleeding at the wrist.
