Radial Angiogram :
An angiogram is a minimally invasive test to diagnose the blocked or narrowed arteries of any system in the body, like coronary arteries, carotid arteries, or peripheral arteries. If that procedure is done through a radial artery, it is called a radial angiogram. Cardiologists always prefer to do the procedure through the right radial route, but if the pulse is feeble, then they prefer to do it through the left radial route. It is done under fluoroscopy, even as a daycare procedure. A thin catheter is passed through the radial artery, and a dye is pushed through that catheter, which helps the cardiologist or an interventional radiologist detect the blockages. Complications that might occur pre and post-radial angiogram include heamatoma, radial artery spasm and occlusion, pseudo aneurysm, radial artery damage, and AV fistula. On some occasions, even a nerve injury might lead to limb dysfunction. Patients would be administered a small dose of local anesthesia in order to relieve their pain and anxiety. The patient will be discharged on the same day if the coronary angiogram is done through the radial route.
