Pituitary Tumors :
Pituitary tumors are the abnormal growths which are benign(non cancerous) or malignant(cancerous) occurring in the pituitary gland which is small endocrine gland located in the base of the skull responsible for producing important hormones that help various functions of the body like growth,normal thyroid functions, reproduction, metabolism, adrenal function, lactation and delivery of the fetus in females. The risk factors include family history,genetic mutations, MEN syndrome and radiation exposure. The signs and symptoms depends on the type of tumor and often cause hormonal dysregulations leading to headache, infetility problems in both men and women, cushing's syndrome, acromegaly etc. Prompt diagnosis and management by surgery , radiation therapy or medications is essential to prevent further complications.
